Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
We respect your privacy and want to keep things simple. This page explains what happens to your data when you use Soon: Countdown Widgets and the soon.day website.
The short version: your events stay on your device and in your iCloud. We don't collect any personal information. The only time something leaves your device is when you choose to share an event, and we explain exactly what that means below.
2. Machine Learning
2.1 Icon Suggestions
Soon suggests icons for your events using machine learning that runs on your device, with Apple's built-in frameworks. Your event names are never sent anywhere for this.
2.2 Data Processing
All of that processing happens locally. Nothing about it is sent to us or to anyone else.
2.3 Disclosure
There is nothing to disclose, because this data is never collected, stored, or sent outside your device.
3. Information We Don't Collect
The app does not collect, store, or send any of the following:
- Personal information (name, email address, etc.)
- Your countdown events or their contents (unless you share one, see section 5)
- Device information
- Usage statistics
- Location data
- Any other personal or non-personal data
Simply put: nothing leaves your device unless you decide to share an event.
4. How Your Data Is Stored
Your events and settings are stored on your device. They are backed up to iCloud using Apple's built-in backup and sync, which Apple handles and protects with its own encryption.
We can't see your iCloud data. Apple's iCloud is covered by Apple's own privacy policy and terms of service.
5. Sharing Events
You can share an event as an image or as a link. Sharing is always your choice: nothing is shared unless you tap Share.
5.1 Sharing as an image
This makes a picture of the event card on your device and hands it to the iOS share sheet. We never see it.
5.2 Sharing as a link
This creates a soon.day link that contains the event's name, date, color, and icon. Those details are packed into the link itself. There is no account, and nothing is uploaded when you create the link.
When someone opens the link, our website uses those details to show the event card and a preview image. Like any website, soon.day keeps standard server logs of the requests it receives, and preview images may be cached for up to an hour. We don't keep a database of shared events.
Anyone who has the link can open it, and because the details live in the link, it can't be taken back once it's out. Please only share events you're comfortable with other people seeing.
5.3 Receiving a shared event
Opening a shared link in Soon adds the event to your list on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere when you import it.
6. Our Website
soon.day is hosted on Vercel. It uses Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly service that doesn't use cookies and doesn't track you across other sites, to count page views and taps on the download and "Add to Soon" buttons.
This only applies to the website. The app itself has no analytics.
7. Third-Party Services
The app doesn't use any third-party services, analytics providers, or advertising networks. The only other parties involved are Apple, which backs up your events through iCloud (section 4), and Vercel, which hosts the website (section 6). No one else receives your data.
8. Data Security
Because your data stays on your device and in your iCloud, its security depends on your device and your Apple ID. We recommend keeping your device up to date and using a strong Apple ID password.
9. Children's Privacy
Soon is suitable for users of all ages. Since we don't collect any data, there are no special provisions regarding children's use of the app.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
